Much of my research has been conducted with friends and colleagues in the Teachers’ Work/Teacher Unions Special Interest Group within the American Educational Research Association. The SIG always has an excellent programme at the AERA annual meeting – mixing academic papers with activist insight. I have previously been Programme Chair, and I currently chair the Best Thesis Awards Panel. Detail of the work of the SIG are available here.
The SIG has a strong focus on international research relating to teacher unions – but is interested in any work that critically explores developments in the nature of teachers’ work – teaching as work, teachers as workers and schools as workplaces.
