#organisingideas refers to work I do that seeks to contribute to the discussion about what a different, more optimistic vision of education might look like. Most of this is in the form of publications, presentations and blogposts. It is motivated by the assertion made by Fielding and Moss (2011:2) that ‘The dictatorship of no alternative cannot be overthrown without ideas’.
Moving beyond where we are now requires both critique and construction, and the work I have tagged as #organisingideas seeks to do both. The phrase itself is intended to recognise that ideas perform an organising function in society, but equally importantly, that ideas need to be organised for. Ideas without activism offer little prospect of ever assuming a reality. #organisingideas projects are described here – or on the blog tagged #organisingideas.
